The Warrior Quilt – free pattern by Suzy Quilts. This pattern has been out for a while and my daughter LOVED it!  Just to make sure she didn’t change her mind, I put off starting it for at least a few months. Ok, maybe a year if I’m truthful. I knew that I wanted to do some custom quilting work on it but couldn’t find much through my google searches for inspiration. It’s true, this pattern can stand on its own with an all over quilting design, but I wanted more.

Using my software programs Art n Stitch and Pro-stitcher Premium, I auditioned designs. What a great tool to be able to preview designs before stitching. All of the quilting designs came either from the Pro-stitcher or Art n Stitch libraries. I also digitized a few of my own using the “mark” function in PS. as well as the sunshine rays digitized in Art n Stitch

This is the perfect quilt for my sweet girl. She is a warrior and one of the sunshine’s in my life.

By the way, the backing is white minky and it is lucious!!

I’ve just finished quilting this sweet vintage quilt hand pieced many years ago. A cherished top comes out of storage and now can be used and loved by family members. It’s obvious that this scrap quilt was lovingly pieced out of clothing or fabric remnants. I can just imagine the little dress made from the red ghingam or the green flowered print.

Enjoy your quilt and when you wrap up in it just imagine a warm hug from grandma. I hope she’s happy that her work is finished and being enjoyed.
